Contributing to the successfulcompletion of major projects that support strategic priorities or difficulttechnical objectives, the Manufacturing Engineer III understands advancedmanufacturing technical principles, theories and concepts to developimaginative manufacturing technology on existing or advanced designs, concepts,processes, systems and tools. Working under general direction, the individualpossesses unique Manufacturing Engineering knowledge in specialty and advancedmanufacturing technical areas. Represents Production Engineering asmanufacturing technical contact on projects, programs and/or cross functionalteams.The Project Engineer will support the BellFARA/CS1 (Future Attack Reconnaissance Aircraft / Capability Set 1) program forthe Advanced Vertical Lift Systems organization within Bell Military Business.This role will plan and execute projects throughout the rapid prototyping buildprocess from early risk reduction testing to first flight of the competitiveprototype aircraft.

Position Responsibilities:

  • Plan, organize, and provide project leadership for activities related to the build of the FARA/CS1 competitive prototype aircraft.
  • Lead a cross functional team to execute the material plan for a major portion of the aircraft from design through the entire purchasing and material management lifecycle.
  • Provide project management for the build of risk reduction test articles and/or major components of the aircraft at the Bell labs, Production COEs, and suppliers.
  • Interface with suppliers to ensure quality, delivery, and cost targets are achieved.
  • Act as a team leader with skills to manage all project elements including scope, schedule, resources, cost, risk, and quality.
  • Work closely with the IPTs during design phase to comprehend part and assembly designs and be effective at matching products with suppliers and their capabilities.
  • Operate effectively and establish appropriate priorities under ambiguous conditions in a fast-paced environment with numerous concurrent activities.
  • Develop risk mitigation plans and solutions as issues arise to avert schedule impacts to the build of the competitive prototype aircraft.
  • Interpret program, build, and material metrics and translate this information into actionable activities to ensure program success.
  • Identify improvements to the build support processes and take initiative to implement changes within the immediate team and across the program.
  • Provide status and present data to the program manager, build team manager, and chief engineer for assigned projects and build/material activities.
  • Become a Subject Matter Expert on Bell systems (SAP, ENOVIA, etc.) and support strategy development for developmental program business architecture.
  • Provide support and influence the development of metrics and supporting databases associated with build, material, tooling, and planning for the program.
  • Qualifications

    Education Requirements:

    BS in Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Industrial Technology, Aviation Maintenance Management, or extensive manufacturing experience.
    MS in technical field or Business Administration is preferred.

    Position Requirements:

    2 years in an aircraft manufacturing/production/maintenance environment, manufacturing operations, industrial engineering, maintenance and/or production is required.
    Effective written and verbal communication skills are required.
    Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently are required.
    Skills/Certifications Preferred:
    SAP, ENOVIA, CATIA, PPM, QlikView.
    MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access, and Project.
    Textron Six Sigma Certified (Greenbelt or Blackbelt).

    Knowledge of Bell business system processes and procurement systems.
    Strong working knowledge of Bell new product development life cycle and rapid prototype build methodologies.
    Direct experience in union covered production facility.
