DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES/ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Perform and coordinate variety of engineering activities and personnel to evaluate, manage, and complete rehabilitation of various transportation system and facilities (bridges and roadways). Work and provide training and technical guidance to other staff engaging in similar assignments. Coordinate the implementation of various Plans, Estimates, and Specification (PS&E). Review and update Plans, Specification, and Estimates in the fields of bridge and roadway engineering. Prepares and reviews technical correspondence, reports, procedural guidelines and project schedules. Interface with departments, consultants, contractors, technical professionals, and public to address and resolve various inquiries. Conduct on - site field observations and inspections and provide recommendations. Provide technical support and expertise on various projects, plans, and programs. Interprets engineering policies and procedures to ensure consistence applications. Participate in hearings and meetings to have latest updates and information. Inspect bridges and roadways and provide reports. Designs and Seals as of Record (EOR) bridges and roadways plans, specification, and estimates (PS&E) for emergency repairs, repairs, rehabilitation, preservation, maintenance, reconstruction and construction. Review and comments on submitted plans, specification, and estimates prepared by others. Work with the maintenance personnel to resolve their issues and problems. Will serve as the Service Line Practice Leader for Bridge emergency repair, repair, maintenance, preservation, rehabilitation, reconstruction and construction. Performs other duties as assigned.

WORKING CONDITIONS
This position is physically comfortable; the individual has discretion about walking, standing, etc. There are no major sources of discomfort, i.e., essentially normal office environment with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.

This is a Houston Public Works Emergency Management position at the Tier I Level. MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

MINIMUM EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS
Requires graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering by the State Board of Registration for Professional Engineers with satisfactory standing; or requires graduation from an engineering science curriculum at a recognized institution of higher education, other than a curriculum approved by the Board, and passage of the eight - hours fundamentals of engineering examination by the Board.

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Four years of active practice in engineering work after graduation from an approved curriculum in engineering are required.

A Master's degree in Engineering may be substitute for up to two years of the above required experience.

MINIMUM LICENSE REQUIREMENTS
Requires registration as a Professional Engineer in the State of Texas. A specific branch of engineering (such as civil, mechanical, structural, etc.) may be required.

A valid Texas driver's license and compliance with the City of Houston's policy on driving (AP 2-2).

PREFERENCES

Preference will be given to individuals with a background in Civil or Structural engineering.

Preference shall be given to individuals with experience in signing and sealing P,S&E (primarily bridge repair, rehabilitation and construction designs) and experience with in-house designing (street and drainage). As well as individuals who are willing to design and seal as Engineer of Record (EOR) for engineering plans and documents for this section.
